Kevin Nystrom
Kevin Nystrom is a managing director at Zolfo Cooper with more than 20 years of experience in restructuring and financial management. He has held numerous management positions and advised companies, boards of directors, investor groups and lenders in a wide range of turnarounds and reorganizations. His operational experience covers numerous industries including manufacturing, distribution, financial services, professional services, transportation, telecommunications and real estate.
Recent roles include serving as COO of Hawaiian Telcom, the nation's tenth largest telecommunications utility; chief restructuring officer of American Home Mortgage, which was one of the country's largest mortgage companies; and financial advisor to a variety of companies and economic stakeholders.
Kevin has extensive experience in development of reorganization plans, creditor negotiations, business plan preparation and long-term forecasting; developing and implementing cost reduction programs; and financial management of public and privately held companies. His expertise includes developing proactive contingency plans for companies facing significant business transitions and leading due diligence of acquisition targets that are financially troubled.
Other notable restructuring engagements include Samsonite, Performance Transportation Services, Marsh Inc, ICG Communications, Rand McNally, ANH Refractories and numerous non-public assignments, including a $5 billion international glass fiber manufacturer and a 10,000-professional global engineering firm specializing in public transportation construction.
Prior to joining Zolfo Cooper, Kevin served as executive vice president and CFO of National Mortgage Corporation, and the CFO of sister, publicly held REITS, Asset Investors and Commercial Assets, Inc., which held residual interests in mortgage-backed securities. At National Mortgage Corporation, he also managed servicing operations and secondary marketing.
